First of all, let me start by saying that this is not an iPod Touch. I have no idea if the Portronics Touch MP4 player is worth $105. It looks, smells, and tries to act like a new iPod by playing videos at 320×240 resolution, having a touch screen, and well, looking like one. The Portronics player also does some interesting things the new iPod doesn’t; it can be expanded with up to a 4GB MiniSD card, has an FM tuner, and plays sound at “supreme” quality via its built-in speaker. So is this player worth $105? I honestly couldn’t tell you, but I is itching to find out.

It’s way worth it. It pretty much the exact thing with a little more … your just paying for a name when you get the iPod touch. I have one of these and I tested out a touch.

I have both at my desk now, There’s no way your just paying for a “Name” The screen isnt touch friendly, You have to double-tap to open things. It’s slow and unresponsive. You cannot scroll with a finger drag. and the screen itself is “Finger sticky” Meaning that your finger sticks to it and your doing stuff and it’s way smaller.

I LOVE it! Neko is wrong!
This device is very functional, and actually has a decent speaker. It is everything you want in a media player, and works much like an iPod touch, except you can own it without having to be a spoiled brat with a limitless allowance!
    WORKS GREAT!

the person above me is either poor and just retarded. i have both, 8gb ipod touch 2nd gen and this thing which i bought off eBay. Let me tell you, this thing DOES NOT compete with the ipod,,its a peice of junk. its slow to move around, it slips when you try to do something and is hard to navigate.

yeah, serioulsy, come on guys. It’s just another cheap knockoff, and if you get it for someone, they will be SERIOUSLY disappointed. Just get over yourselves and splurge for the iPod. At least you know you’ll be getting a tried and true, good quality player, instead of some cheap knockoff piece of junk.

I would like to comment on the I Pod Touch. I have a first generation I Pod, it is 13 months old and no longer functions. I didn’t buy the extended warrenty because it is an “Apple” product, who would have thought that it would go south so soon. From what I gather from researching this problem on the internet, it is quite common. Apple only gives you so many options, all of which are costly up and over the original price: 1-buy the extended warrenty (more$$) 2-not buy the extended warrenty (fix it, more$$$) or 3-replace it (more$$$) or 4-Just don’t buy their products. Really can’t they make a product that will last a few years? For the money they charge for their products, I’m less then impressed. Quite frankly for the money, I’m thinking a knockoff might not be so bad.
