NTT and Dainippon Printing have an RFID child tracking system for parents to view their kids through webcams installed at their kindergarten.
Parents log into a website and enter their child’s details, a server at the kindergarten determines the child’s location using an RFID chip built into their nametag, and it then streams video from the appropriate camera back to the parents’ PC.

I have no children, but this system would be a HUGE draw to me if I did. I imagine being able to occasionally check on your child from work would be a great stress relief.
The RFID chips are embedded in nametags so no direct implantation is necessary. As children (and the technology) grow older, the system could be extended to mobile phones being tracked by GPS. There seems to be many potential applications for this budding technology.
