Mozilla.org has released version 1.5 of its stand alone email client Thunderbird. The great thing about Thunderbird is it’s clean and yet feature packed, like its brother FireFox. The latest incarnation does email, newsgroups, RSS and has junk mail filters, anti-phishing protection and like its brother program is extensible with what else, extensions. Thunderbird does not have the security problems of Outlook Express just as FireFox doesn’t have the security issues Internet Explorer does. Yet both are as full featured as their counterparts. In many ways they are more feature packed. I have worked as an Internet Tech Support professional for a local ISP so I know what it’s like to get email about everything under the sun and with Thunderbird I think I had the best defense against unwanted nasties that like to propogate through email. If you’re fed up with OE and want to try something else, try Thunderbird, you won’t be disappointed. Congrats to Mozilla.org on the release.
