I went to a Microsoft Office 97 pre-release seminar back in 1996. I don’t recall who the speaker was who said this, but I sure as heck remember what he said:
“Microsoft will never go out of business. If we ever decide to stop selling software, we will continue to exist as a marketing firm.”
Funny how this rings so true today. The Halo 3 launch frenzy is beyond imagination at this point – there are Halo 3 Slurpees, underwear, you name it. Microsoft certainly knows how to maximize a brand, and the Halo 3 Legendary Edition is the perfect example of this. Why pay $60 for Halo 3 when you could pay more than twice as much and get this cool box and kitten-sized plastic helmet? Of course also included are three two bonus discs with Behind-the-scenes at Bungie, hi-res versions of all the Halo cinematics, Red vs. Blue episodes, and much more. Each Legendary Edition is individually serialized for added wootness.
