Apparently, the iPod’s unreplaceable battery lasts only 18 months. My 20Gig model must be about that that age. Still going strong. I’m happy to take any iPods with dead batteries off people’s hands for whatever the going rate is per Gig of hard disk storage these days — somewhere between A$1 and A$3 by the look of it. A powered firewire hub, a few 5Gig iPods at A$15 each — sounds like a project.

Update: My mistake, you can replace your own battery and as batteries go there are some cheap options.
