Newsvine is a newly launched collaborative social news site. It is a site where users contribute (much like digg) to post and comment on various news stories. Each story, which is intuitively organized on the site, can be commented on as well as voted to a higher level. While some may say it is similiar to Digg I have found it to be somewhat better. This site offers a superior layout that puts all other news sites to shame. The usergroup is also much better in my opinion than that of Digg. Through expierience I have found much more mature and thoughtful discussions in the comments and their live chat function. This is very more pleasing than the flame wars and constant insulting that fills Digg.com’s comments.
While still in Beta, Newsvine has a lot to promise and is the perfect site for news hungry people. It offers a relaxing ad free (for now) enviorment and supposedly once ads do start to surface you will be able to profit from them in respect to your level of contribution to the site. There is a lot to be found at newsvine so go check it out. But you’ll need to be invited in so hurry and register in the Gadget Forum.
