This is personal, and non-standard for what most of you expect from this site. First of all, if you’re reading this, Thank You – I can’t tell you how much I appreciate those of you who stick with GadgetMadness through thick and thin. It’s been a crazy three years blogging, which looking back feels like an eternity. Over the Christmas break I got an iPod Video 30GB, a white PSP from Japan (which I returned due to three dead pixels) and a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet – all of which you will be hearing about. I also took a long hard look at my own “gadget madness,” and what it really costs me. Working my blog costs me time away from loved ones and friends and causes stress, the regular woes I imagine every hardcore blogger faces. I was wrapped up in how much traffic the site was getting, if my content would cause Google to stop serving AdSense ads, and how to compete against much larger corporate blogs with deep pockets and far more resources than I have. All this pressure burned me out *ZSZTT* like a bug in a buglight, for real. It wasn’t fun anymore, it was hard work, and that sucked. Thing is I’ve never been one to quit anything, and I love GadgetMadness more than any personal project I’ve ever worked on – in many ways this blog is a part of me that’s existed since I was ten, maybe younger. In 2005 I would have been concerned about posting an embarrasing pic I took with a spy camera of one of my best friends in the men’s room the night before his wedding. (People who know me should realize that around me you’re never safe – I always have at least three cameras on my person at any given time.) It’s not 2005 anymore, it’s 2006 and out of pure necessity GadgetMadness is getting back to its roots. Gadgets and Madness, baby!
