Hey fellow gadget freaks, Nick isn’t the only new kid on the block. From what I hear, he and I aren’t all they’ve added either. We have more tricks up our sleve. Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!
My name is caporion but you can call me caporion. I’m the type of writer who likes to keep things light hearted and fun so don’t be surprised to see that come out in the posts I make here. lunacy8m and birq had a tough job doing things by themselves up until now. Thanks to them for giving Nick and I and the reviewer to be named later the chance to join them in bringing you hot reviews on great new gadgets. Now for something completely different, me.
So I’m a big techie/gadget loving/Trekker that does hard time working tech support for an ISP. Luckily I work graveyard shift so I can bring in my gadgets and play when there aren’t any calls to answer. My collection is modest but I’m always looking to grow it. I usually carry around my modest cell phone, Nokia 3595, hey what can I say it goes ring ring and there’s someone on the other end. No camera, no frills, it just works. I also typically keep my second brain in my pocket… no! no! people… people please let’s keep this clean here. My second brain is my aging Compaq iPaq 3630 (yes it still works, even runs PPC 2002! *sigh*). I also bring with (my wife would tell you everywhere) my tabletpc/laptop convertible from Averatec, the C3500. Incidentally, it was a sample review of this little dandy that got lunacy8m’s attention. A very good purchase indeed! Those are my big three. I’m into many different types of gadgets but those probably target my main interests: cell phone, PDA, portable computer.
I’m pretty new to the site but I’m not new to gadgets or the net. Some of you may know me as “CaptainOrion” from the wylderyde.org chat rooms on IRC (shouts to my gnomies and TWiTs in the #lockergnome and #thisweekintech rooms) And I have been around the net since 1995 so I have pretty much seen it all… ok I lied but come on, in Internet years I’m a grandpa! (I think my 4 year old has some explaining to do) I’m always looking for cool stuff online including gadgets and I have been known to hang out at digg.com and do some podcasting. I won’t get into which podcasts here but suffice it to say, we may be getting one here in the near future! DOH! The cat’s out of the bag now.
What would MY dream gadget be? Oh hands down, a REAL communicator. Like those tap the pin on your shirt type deals you see all the crew wearing on Star Trek. Yeah baby! Talk about an impressive gadget, the thing would know who you are and who the other person is and route your communication directly to them without the need for any phone numbers etc. Now that’s cool! (hey no laughing in the peanut gallery) To be honest I see Paramount is actually working on a deal to produce a communicator for the fans. It’s the least they could do after killing the franchise off. Oh well.
So that’s the tip of the proverbial iceberg. To find out more, you’ll have to keep an eye on what’s coming down the pipe here at gadgetmadness.com because we’re only getting started!
