Every now and then a new gadget comes along that breaks the mold and makes us smile. The Sandisk Sansa Shaker MP3 player is a low-cost MP3 player that’s designed with kids in mind, and the young at heart. Pros and cons after the jump.

Pros:

  • Well-designed and easy to use.
  • Many unique features like dual-headphone jacks and random song “shaking.”
  • Comes with 512MB or 1GB memory card.
  • Did we mention it’s massively fun to use?
  • Built-in loudspeaker is loud and has decent sound.

Cons:

  • Battery life is so-so – get some rechargeables.
  • Song randomization isn’t always that “random.”
  • No option for grouping songs (i.e. playing a specific folder of tunes only)
  • Blue LED ring flashes repeatedly and often – a little too much.

We think the Sansa Shaker is a breath of fresh air for anyone looking for a nice workout MP3 player or something to keep their kids entertained. It’s unique design and fun features make it a winner in our book of gadgets.
