I was flipping through a computer accessory catalog this morning and I came across this thing. I had to check the calendar real quick to make sure it wasn’t April 1st before I went searching for the manufacturer.
Arkon has mounting solutions for absolutely any electronic device you can imagine, in cars, homes, offices and so on. I can’t possibly imagine why a steering wheel mount for a laptop could be practical or even smart. The disclaimer, “THIS PRODUCT IS ONLY FOR USE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH MOUNT ATTACHED TO STEERING WHEEL. DEATH or INJURY TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS WOULD OCCUR” doesn’t even scratch the surface as far as required warnings for this device should go.
I’m not saying that I don’t have one on my Christmas list this year, though.

This is actually quite a clever idea…
It’s not meant to be used while driving, but if you’ve ever tried to use your laptop on your lap while sitting on the driver’s seat you’ll known this is the deal… Or would have been the deal 4½ years ago. 🙂
