50 percent of Norwegian teachers (who participated in a survey to determine the influence of cell phones in schools) stated that text messaging is threatening the Norwegian language, according to the Norwegian paper "Dagsavisen." Apparently, the language used in text messaging is appearing in student's papers, and teachers aren't too happy about it.

When we were in high school, we didn't have a messaging protocol to blame for our use of slang and bad spelling in schoolwork. Kids today just don't know how good they have it.
