Apple MobileMe Me.com
Without actually coming out and saying “.Mac Is Dead” Apple announced their MobileMe Me.com Internet service today, which enables push email, contacts, and calendars to the iPhone, iPod Touch, Macs and PC’s. MobileMe also gives users a desktop-like experience through any web browser as well as a Gallery for sharing photos and iDisk for storing documents online. From the press release:

MobileMe, available on July 11, is a subscription-based service with 20GB of storage for $99 (US) per year for individuals and $149 (US) for a Family Pack, which includes one master account with 20GB of storage and four Family Member accounts with 5GB of storage each. Users can sign up for a free, 60-day MobileMe trial at www.apple.com/mobileme and current .Mac members will be automatically upgraded to MobileMe accounts. MobileMe subscribers can purchase an additional 20GB of storage for $49 (US) or 40GB of storage for $99 (US) annually.

Since everyone here at the GadgetMadness Headquarters use both Mac and PC, we’ve never given Apple’s .Mac service much though. By opening the new MobileMe Me.com service to PC users Apple has opened a totally new door for us to explore, and perhaps trip and fall through.
