Reuters is reporting that Samsung is working on a DVD player which will work with both Blu-Ray and HDDVD if the parties involved don’t agree on a standard. Basically they say that if the players in this debate don’t play nice, Samsung will offer up a solution for the end user, the ability to play both on one box. I’m all for this idea after recently buying a DVD burner which again since people couldn’t agree on a single standard, records both DVD+R and DVD-R discs. If I had to choose, I’d be ticked. Thankfully people like Samsung realize how tough this is on consumers and so they decided to have a contingency plan in place in case the powers that be in the HDDVD & Blu-Ray fight can’t come to an agreement.
