Got back from vacation a couple days ago, so here’s a review for ya guys. This time its the Dekart SIM card reader. The device is pretty basic, just a little USB card reader that accepts SIM cards. Using the included software (which you can download on their website too) you can easily manage your phone book. Read on to find out our verdict.

What’s in the Box?

I was sent a couple of different review units, so your box will be different. But the packaging was pretty basic. It did include the dongle and two sim cards, which could be handy for using as backups.

What’s Good About It?

This device may be basic, but it sure is handy. You can easily slip in your SIM card and change any numbers or entries in your phone book. For those that are always changing and adding numbers, this gadget is for you. It is very easy to modify your phone book with the included software.

The Dekart SIM Manager was very easy to use. I could quickly add or edit any numbers/names if I needed to. My phonebook was already up to date though, so I just made a backup of it. Now if I ever need to move my numbers to a new phone, I could do it with this device. My brother who recently sold his Sidekick had to manually enter all of his numbers (That was before I had this, I swear!). The device would only import numbers, and not export them. Some phones however will import or export numbers to the SIM.

What Could Be Improved?

There are very few flaws in the design of the product. One major one though is that it can be difficult to connect the device to a USB port. For my computer, I have two ports on the front, but the plastic on the dongle prevents it from getting in all the way. I did have a USB extender though (that is the black cord connected to the device in the above picture), so it wasn’t too much of an issue. The software was very stable, so I had no issues with that.

GadgetMadness Verdict: One handy little USB dongle

Overall this is one great and handy product. If you routinly change numbers on your phone, look into this product. You can visit the website here, which also includes the required software you need to download if you do not already have it with your purchase. The whole product and software was very easy to setup and get running. I’m very pleased with this product though, as I’m sure it will come in handy for me or a friend.
