We’ve covered the weirdest of the weird, and I think this has to take the cake. This self-defense gadget is the invention of Sonette Ehlers, and is designed to empower women to combat a very serious problem in South Africa. How does it work?

“Hollow inside and the inner wall of it is lined, and there we have got all our technology and little hooks which, upon forced penetration, will attach to the skin of the perpetrator and only a medical doctor can remove it. He’ll have to turn himself in, so he’s marked for immediate identification.”

The device is planned to go on sale by the end of the year. (And if you’re male and not cringing, then you’re not human!)
