Thummer Musical Instrument

The Thummer is an unusual music instrument that's the mutant love child of a back massager, a Dual Shock Controller, and Das Keyboard II.

We particularly like Thumtronics position on why we should care about the Thummer: "Because it is more expressive...because it is easier to learn...because it expands musical horizons" and "because it could create new opportunities for Austin’s musicians." We appreciate those who dance to the beat of a different drum with confidence. If someone can put together a band that features a Thummer, a Hiwatt Echo Theremin and a Sonar Axe guitar we will be so all over it like you can't imagine, cause we're weird like that too.

Video demo of the Thummer in action after the jump.

I appreciate your interest in the Thummer.

Although interest in the Thummer has been global (and unsatisfied, since it is not yet shipping), Austin is its ideal home. The #2 high tech center in the USA and the Live Music Capital of the World (although it has dead music, too), Austin prides itself on its weirdness (www.keepaustinweird.com).

We hope to export a little weirdness soon!

Jim,
My son Brian is in the music business he owns his own mixing and engineering company. He must be pretty good since he won a Grammy a couple of years ago. I would like to buy him one of these for Xmas. How can I do it?
