Who can resist the allure of having a 8 foot long cow-shaped couch in their living room to sit on and hug? The story behind the Cowch is the heart touching tail that starts with six calves who were orphaned during a thunderstorm. Their mother dead, Helga cared for the calves and wanted to save them from the slaughterhouse. Her farm wages weren’t enough to buy them from the man who owned the calves, so how would she raise enough money to save them from your dinner plate?

The answer came to me as I lay in the straw snuggling with my cow family: I’d make life-size stuffed cows for others to snuggle the way I snuggled with my real cows.

Looney or not, I do respect someone with the ingenuity and resourcefulness to come up with the idea of selling cow couches to save the lives of six living creatures they care about.

Maybe two “mud’pies” ie. “cow-pies” either side would make great end tables.
