What's Wrong With The iPod Hi-Fi

I was in the Apple Store today admiring the gorgeous sound that comes from the iPod Hi-Fi system and was just about to buy one for my iPod video. Suddently it hit me - what about the iPod FM Receiver? Interestingly enough both the Hi-Fi and the FM Receiver use the dock connector to plug into your iPod, so there's no chance of using the Hi-Fi to listen to FM radio. Also for sale was the iPod Video cradle with AV output so you can watch your downloaded shows on your television. I checked the Hi-Fi and the only other port on it is an audio-in minijack, which means no video out when docked in the Hi-Fi. If I want to watch my iTunes shows and use the Hi-Fi I would need two iPod accessories sitting in my entertainment center (and shell out the cash for both.) What Apple needs to do is release a version of the Hi-Fi that integrates the FM functionality of the FM Receiver, and allow for video/audio out from the iPod to your home entertainment system. I would go on a limb and say that the hi-Fi would make a fine speaker system for the TV in your bedroom or office. Until then I won't be getting one, but for those only interested in playing music the sound on the Hi-Fi is hard to beat.

Apple's brand new iPod Hi-Fi speaker system. Available now with free shipping.
