Color Changing Volcano Lamp (Non USB)

This cool desk decoration emulates the action of an erupting volcano with motion beads and multi-colored LED lights. There is an animated gif of this cool lamp in action on the product page, but there is one thing seriously wrong with this desktop sculpture. It's not USB! Why, oh why wouldn't you require a USB port on this office volcano? Even without the USB port it's still mesmering to watch, but making it USB would have seriously added to the cool factor, right?

These are seriously cool, but when they fall over they make a big mess. I had a spill filled with little tiny plastic balls, a broken lamp and a very bummed out kid. Take precautions seriously!!!!

I'm having a problem with my lamp. The instructions say not to fill with water all the way to the top but to stop 1 inch from top, which is what I did. when I turn the lamp on after a few minutes, most of the balls begin to float up to the surface of the water, which reduces the effect. Would filling the lamp all the way to the top fix that, or might it cause a short with the electric light? Any thoughts?
