GadgetMadness: We find the coolest gadgets first

Sometime in the far away future, an intelligent species from another galaxy will visit our planet and marvel at the technological wonders we created. The one unanswered question that will linger in their minds, though, will be:

"Why did they make all this USB crap?"

From ThinkGeek comes the Mini USB Lava Lamp. For under $10, I think is a pretty darn cool accessory to have on your desk. This seemingly endless stream of unnecessary USB accessories also makes me wonder how jealous Apple must be, as the originators of FireWire, that no one is making FireWire Ashtrays or FireWire Lobster Crackers. Anyone from Apple care to comment?
