Google has been indexing the closed captioning for several Bay Area stations since December, and have now launched their Video Search Beta. The search results will give you a list of the shows that contain your search terms, and the details page will show screenshots of what was going on when those words were uttered. You can even see a listing of when the show will be replayed.
The plan here, I guess, is to get to the point where you can search for text that appeared in any show that was aired anywhere at any time and get back a list of video clips that you can view.
Given this, the purchase of Picasa (which is a spiffy little program in its own right) and the rumors of a web browser in the works, it's really hard to see where Google is headed these days. World domination? Maybe.
