The alpha geeks as Google have released their latest in a long line of useful little gadgets. Gmail Notifier is a system tray icon for Windows 2K and XP that polls your Gmail inbox and displays an alert when you receive new messages. It's very Spartan -- I would say it isn't very configurable, but that would imply that you're able to configure it at all -- but it works. It has a fixed 2-minute polling period and plays the default mail sound and pops a semi-transparent message summary notification for each new mail.
I'm hoping they'll work more features into it in future releases -- support for multiple inboxes, configurable polling interval, ability to turn off notification sounds and pops -- but it's a good solution for Gmail users that demand more and don't use a POP client.
