The breakdown:
Sony PSP: Multimedia Playback (movies & MP3), 33 million polygons per second (rumored), Wireless LAN (i802.11), IrDA, USB 2.0, rumored price $149-$400.
Nintendo DS: Multimedia Playback (movies & MP3), 30 million polygons per second (rumored), Wireless LAN (i802.11), dual screens in vertical alignment (second screen is touch sensitive controller? stylus?), Instant Messaging, rumored price $199, backwards compatible with entire Game Boy library of games.
The more we look at it, the DS looks like it is poised to hardcore *nuke* the PSP. The DS does more, has the second screen, and is probably going to be cheaper. More importanly, you'll be able to buy a DS this Christmas. The PSP isn't coming out until 2005.
Which system will you buy? Which system do you think is better, and why?

If your previous screenshot (http://www.gadgetmadness.com/gm/archives/mario64.jpg) is an accurate depiction of what the DS/Nitro is going to be capable of, then it's a no-brainer to pick up Nintendo's new handheld.
It all depends on the final specs, but at the moment, I'm more leaning toward the PSP.
Not owning a handheld gaming machine now, I'd probably go for the Sony. If I already had a gameboy, I'd go for the new Nintendo. It also depends on the game availability. Both seem pretty damn cool so I doubt I'd be disappointed either way.
Mmmmh i think i'll take a DS this christmas if it's as cheap (less than 250$) and as powerful as expected... Otherwise i'll wait for the psp :)
