"The APC Biometric Password Manager is the lowest priced biometric solution on the market and the first fully-featured product to break the “under $50” benchmark. For the ultimate in security, the Biometric Password Manager will be available in March at an estimated retail price of $49.99."
Features include:
- 3-Step Plug and Play Setup
- Authentic TruePrint Sensor Technology
- Fast User Switching for Windows XP
- Self-Powered Operation
- USB Connected
I prefer biometric fingerprint password solutions like this one over proximity devices. With proximity USB password solutions, if you lose the sensor "key" you are out of luck. New gadgets like this are the greatest!

I remember reading an article a few months back that McDonald's tried using biometric systems to pay for food at a trial location in California.
I also read in that same article that the scanners could be fooled with a simple fabricated "thumb" involving Silly Putty. Although I'm sure it has advanced since then. After all, we're not talking about "secure encryption" circumvented with a black magic marker, RIAA style.
