Pros:

  • As advertised, extremely durable and rugged.
  • Setup application assists with drive partitioning and formatting.
  • Triple interface makes connectivity a breeze.

Cons:

  • Fast, but not the fastest.
  • Runs slightly warm when connected via FireWire interfaces.
  • While we love the color, neon orange is not for everyone.

Conclusion

The LaCie All-Terrain USB external hard drive is rated at MIL-STD-810 which is a series of standards from the United States Army’s Developmental Test Command. This number probably doesn’t mean much to you (and to be honest didn’t to us until we looked it up) but this hard drive is designed to take some serious abuse. We’ve noticed most people seem to base their drive loyalty on prior experience, and our experience with LaCie drives has been positive. For those looking for a versatile and tough external portable drive with plenty of options for connectivity, look no further.
