TASER AXON Tactical Network Protect The Truth
On June 20th, TASER will unveil their latest offering in the law enforcement arena – AXON (Autonomous eXtended On-Officer Network). AXON is a tactical audio-video recorder that first responders, law enforcement, and soldiers will wear. The AXON earpiece loops into existing radio communications and records both audio and video from the perspective of the wearer. From the desription in the press release it sounds like the AXON recorder unit is quite compact, almost like a Bluetooth headset with a compact video recorder built in.
Also interesting to note is that the AXON will use embedded software developed by MontaVista™ Software, a company who pioneered embedded Linux commercialization in 1999.
TASER, we have so many questions to ask you. Will audio and video stream live to a central communications hub where a command unit could watch all field activity, ALIENS colonial marine style? How long is the recording capacity? Will smacking the side of our AXON helmet improve the reception? Why after all these years can Vasquez still do more pull ups than we can? Guess we’ll have to wait until this cool new tech from TASER is released in June to find out.
