Many robotic toys to come out in the past few years have come close but slightly missed the mark on being good at what they do. In my mind, there are a few essential qualities every robotic toy should have:
1) A decent camera with the ability to capture photos, video and audio.
2) A distinct purpose – meaning it’s clearly a guard bot, or a entertainment bot, or an animal replica and it does its job well.
3) The ability to charge itself when power gets low.
I literally stumbled across the Spykee while looking for something else, and wow – what a discovery! Made by Erector, the Spykee has full audio-video surveillance capabilities and WiFi built in and is Skype compatible. It can also be accessed & controlled remotely via the Internet, making it the perfect spybot for your home or business. The icing on the cake – it can play your MP3’s and it will find its charging station when it gets low on juice.
Skypee is an Erector bot, and as such can be built in three different forms of your chosing. He also costs about as much as three typical robotic toys, so let’s hope Spykee performs as advertised when he hits the shelves on October 22nd.
