When Resident Evil was released for the Playstation way back when, it was a new experience in gaming. A game that actually scared you and made you jump? (Anyone who says they didn’t jump at the first zombie doberman that came at them through the window is lying.) After RE came Silent Hill, which was a far deeper and more psychological scare. I’ve played all the Silent Hill games except for the last installment, and honestly I skipped the last one to save myself from the stress – finishing Silent Hill 3 really took it out of me. Based on the popularity of the game a movie was inevitable…from looking at the details on Cybil the motorcycle cop’s uniform to the color palettes and formless shambling bodies, this time it looks like they nailed it.

Silent Hill is the work of Christophe Gans, who also directed “The Brotherhood of the Wolf.” If you haven’t seen Brotherhood, do yourself a favor and rent it – it’s a stylish original story with tons of cool action, cool characters and a unique style all its own. Oh, I suppose I should get to the point… the trailer for SH is online now, and the film is due out this April. Can’t wait!

Update: Oh sweet pyramid head, after carefully scrutinizing the trailer again I just caught a brief glimpse of the most feared character in Silent Hill 2. Awesome.
