McDonalds to Host Nintendo DS Wireless Gaming (& VOIP too?)
Free wireless phone calls on your Nintendo DS at McDonalds? Let’s look at the timeline:

August 2004:
TNI Securities reports that the Nintendo DS handheld will enable free phone calls at wireless hotspots.

May 2005: Nintendo shows off DSpeak at E3. DSpeak allows DS users to make VOIP calls with a headset for the DS, showing animated characters that lip-sync what you say.

October 2005: McDonalds to Host Nintendo DS Wireless Gaming. Most McDonalds already have Wayport for wireless Internet access. Nintendo will pay an undisclosed sum to Wayport and offer free wireless access for DS users at McDonalds around the country.

You see where this is going, right? If it all plays out the way it looks like Nintendo is planning, it won’t be long before you will be able to make VOIP calls with your Nintendo DS which munching on your Big Mac and fries at McDonalds. (That’s sweet enough for me to skip dessert!)
