Repliee Q1 is the most human looking android to date, developed by the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at Osaka University, under the direction of Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro. Repliee has 31 actuators in her upper body and soft flexible silicone for skin. She is programmed to breathe, move her hands, and flutter her eyelids like a human.
Although not stated in the article, eventual plans are underway for a successor to Repliee Q1 named Repliee Pris. Repliee Pris will be a “pleasure android” gone wrong that will be programmed to do cartwheels while shrieking like a banshee, and will have rock hard thighs that can snap a man’s neck like a twig.
