Thinking about buying the new Star Wars Trilogy on DVD? The only thing notable here is that it the disc is a DVD/Xbox disc hybrid, and users may be unaware of the Xbox content.
There are many, many Xbox games that update the dashboard, and that this disc does the same is nothing special. It’s pretty run-of-the-mill, in fact.

Games that update the dashboard, yes. But then you at least know it is being updated. DVD movies that update it without telling you? Not as common.

Actually you don’t know when a game updates the dashboard. There’s no notice, no warning. Anytime you put a disc with Xbox content into your Xbox, the dashboard may be updated, pure and simple.
The only difference here is that its a DVD/Xbox hybrid.
Besides, anyone who is worried about this should just update their modchip & bios and be done with it. Dashboard updating hasn’t been an issue for a long time.

Is it possible that running the demo from the SW Extras DVD in my Xbox (and getting the dashboard auto-update) has affected my ability to stay connected to Xbox Live? I did it a couple of days ago, and for the past two days, I’ve been getting frequent spurious mid-game disconnects. There have been no other changes in my router/cable modem setup, and my connection seems to be otherwise just fine.
Please send email as well as posting reply. Thanks.
