Fake. I’ve entered my email as a winning number twice. And didn’t get anything. You’re all just giving your invitations to a scammer.

and I do mean two distinct wins, from different computers with different email adresses, quite some time apart.
    Fake. Scam.

I found the original Gmail lotto several days ago on gmailswap.com. Since then I’ve been in close contact with its creator, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is not a scam. Also, he is handling winning codes by hand and not automating delivery of winning codes to keep the site above board and safe from scamming – he’s genuinely concerned about the integrity of the contest.
Add to that that he is one guy that has a site that has been hit by a slashdot.org link and is getting truckloads of email. All of the original 5 invites we gave him were signed up, one person actually emailed me asking who I was and why I was in their contact list.
It’s legit, and free, and if it was a scam GadgetMadness would not be involved with it (we’ve donated over 30 invites so far.)

Looks like the 2nd gen GMail Machine ate it too. Last I saw they had transferred over 90GB of bandwidth, which is just insane. Their ISP probably pulled the plug.
If you still need a GMail account, just email me at “gmailpleasesuh at gadgetmadness dot com” and I will send you one of my extras, while supplies last.

He doesn’t reply to mails either, probably too busy handing out donated invites to friends and family…
Don’t say he’s too busy handling winners. It said on the site there were only 100 or so winners. That would be done in half an hour, and you can ignore all other mails.
Shame on gadget madness for posting about this TWICE!

Shame on us for covering the story BEFORE slashdot?
    http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/06/18/210213&mode=thread&tid=126&tid=217&tid=95
Shame on us for handing out our extra GMail invites to those asking for them? (See previous comment on this thread)
Pfft. I say shame on noone. It was a good idea that grew to be bigger than he could handle. (I still have a few extra invites, btw.)

I also won by hitting 1337 on the Gmail Machine but never got my invite after entering my email address and the site confirming the address as submitted.
    Very Unfortunate! I’m Bummed

The odds for the new system is now over a million to 1. You have to match 5 numbers between 0 and 16. I don’t know if I have time to click a million times. I’ll just get 10 yahoo accounts.

I donated to this guys site when he first made it, before it got popular. I’m still donating. So far, I’ve donated about 40 invites.
He’s legit. I’ve been getting lots of messages from people that sign up through my invites thanking me for donating them.
The site’s just gotten way too popular to handle.
