You might be wondering “what’s up” with the endless stream of public service announcement ads on the right. Typically, Google AdSense provides helpful gadget Google ad links instead of public service announcements. According to Google’s technical support, something on GadgetMadness has triggered their “automatic content-targeting system” which looks for such content as “graphic descriptions of violence” or “various other mature content.”
If you are a regular reader of GadgetMadness, you’ll know that we go out of our way to provide you with the raciest, raunchiest, most violent and family unfriendly gadgets imaginable. If there isn’t mutilation, maiming, or dismemberment involved, then we probably won’t report on it. Just look at the rest of the content on our main page – deplorable, right? How do we go to sleep at night knowing that we are filling your brains with “graphic descriptions of violence” and other “mature content?”
If you aren’t awake enough yet to catch the facetiousness, then please take two Umph and call us in the morning. And Google, please tweak your “automatic content-targeting system” so that we can return to our regular ads, kthx.
Update: Google didn’t tell us what content they found offensive, only that after we removed the offensive content, that “it may take up to 2 or 3 weeks before the changes are reflected in our index. Thank you for your understanding.” It’s kind of difficult for us to “understand” when the core content of what we report about is inherently non-offensive, even harder when we don’t even know what it was that tripped their filter. Also, a suggestion: an email telling us we’d offended you before yanking the normal ads would have been nice. Google, sweetie, how can we make it all better if you don’t tell us what’s wrong?

Simple, block anything coming from their adsense server 😉 you won’t be bothered anymore by ads, either they are relevant or not ! But huh ! I guess Google Labs won’t be happy to read such things …
