Japanese movies

Ed Steele March 22, 2004 4

East Asians know how to make movies. US/Australian film makers take years producing something amazing like the Matrix Trilogy. Then, the Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans say “That’s cool. Now watch us, and get out of our way.”
…and they release a flood of cool movies. Are they as perfectly polished as they could be? Maybe, maybe not. That’s your call. But it sure is entertaining.
Some trailers:
Cashern
Devilman
God Diva

My post wasn’t really meant to praise the Japanese or insult American/Australian film makers. I’m just happy that so many cool movies are being released these days. The cost of special effects has dropped dramatically, enabling many creative people to express themselves in powerful ways. No longer are big-effects the sole realm of Hollywood studios with deep pockets.
    That’s a good thing.
