Philips double layer DVD+RIt’s almost time to buy a DVD burner. Philips have announced a double-layer drive that will be available “in Europe in April 2004″. 8.5GB on a single side of a single disc. We first met the technology last year. They’ve only announced single-sided discs for the moment, but I’m hopeful for double-sided discs some time in the future. I’ve already told my favourite local supplier to email me when the drives show up in Australia. (via Gizmodo, via Ars Technica.)
