These strange tiles have been found embedded in the pavement of at least 20 cities in the United States – 50 tiles in NY, 30 tiles in Philly, and even two in South America! The first reported citing of a “Toynbee Tile” was in the late eighties. Here’s the best part – noone knows why or how these tiles are appearing. Noone has taken credit for them, and noone has ever seen one being embeded. It gets even weirder the more you read about it.
