I love barcode stuff. Anything that can encode digital information in a way that can be printed and photocopied is pretty cool. Barcode games have come and gone, but this is a new twist. Someone at Xerox’s old PARC centre has worked out how to play chess with real peices on a scanner. The best quote is in the section titled Why; “It is hard to get excited about 99.98% vs. 99.97% decode rates in testsuite #73, but if a rook disappears, well that is simply unacceptable!”
