Robotic Bug Mop

Ed Steele May 27, 2003 Comments Off

This little robotic mop uses dry-cloth inserts to “mop up” the dust on your floor, so long as the area you want to clean is enclosed. The Robot
Mopping Bug doesn’t seem to have any sort of advanced edge or collision detection – it bumps into a wall, and then changes direction. A good start, but robotic cleaners have lots of room for improvement. There is a video link on the bottom of the page that shows this little robot in action.

UPDATE: Robot mops have improved. Check out the iRobot Roomba 4100 – it’a awesome!
